Ayo Bonaire

Are you discovering Bonaire for the first time, or do you simply not feel like driving during this holiday? That is absolutely no problem. It is good to know that Bonaire does not have public transport and you cannot just hail a taxi on the street. Fortunately, there are plenty of other excellent options to explore the island.

Our advice: let a professional guide drive you around for a (part of the) day. You won't have to focus on the traffic, you will see the most beautiful places on the island, and a lunch is often included. Book this yourself in advance via the provider's website, which is the easiest way!

Below you can read how a car-free holiday at Ayo Bonaire works in practice.

Arrival and departure (Airport Transfers)

You can travel easily and directly from Flamingo Airport to Ayo Bonaire:

  • Personal transfer via host Milly: For $25 per person (one-way), our local host Milly will arrange a reliable transfer for you to or from the airport.
  • Reserve a taxi in advance: This can be done online via www.bonaire-taxi.com. For a similar rate of around $25 per car ride, they will bring you to our park. Tip: You can book a ride 24/7 in advance via their handy WhatsApp Chatbot, their WhatsApp number is +5997017177

Groceries and restaurants within walking distance

From Ayo Bonaire, you can easily walk to the supermarket and various dining options:

  • Supermarket (10-minute walk): For your daily groceries, you can walk to the Zhung Kong Supermarket (Kaya Gob. N. Debrot 98). It is open daily from 08:00 to 20:00.
  • Restaurants (within a 20-minute walk):
    1. Rum Runners
    2. Ingredients Restaurant
    3. Pizza Mare Bonaire
    4. Eddy's Bar
    5. Döner Station Hato
    6. Ice cream Luciano

Snorkeling within walking distance (6-minute walk)

You can walk straight to the sea from your villa. Walk via Kaya Groningen towards the water. Turn right at Kaya Gob. N. Debrot 161 and walk for another 2 minutes. Here you will find a hidden entrance to a quiet beach where you can snorkel right away.

Important: Anyone using the sea around Bonaire or visiting the Washington-Slagbaai National Park is required to purchase a STINAPA Nature Fee online in advance. This is a contribution for the maintenance and preservation of the local nature.

Our extra tip: A day out on an all-inclusive catamaran✨

We would highly recommend a day out on a catamaran, wonderful! Believe me, this is a trip you will never forget. To get to the departure point, you first take a taxi to Kralendijk (you can easily book this in advance via bonaire-taxi.com). From there, you step right on board for an unforgettable day on the water. It is all-inclusive, so you have nothing to worry about.
Action plan:
- Book your trip via Catamaran, Snorkeling and Private tours | Epic Tours
- Book your ride via www.bonaire-taxi.com via WhatsApp (+5997017177), website, or app.
